Getting started with Starhive > part 3 - user interfaces
The last major part of your Starhive app is your user interface. You need to decide how users will interact with your app, i.e. your user interface.
There are different ways you can do this in Starhive. They are:
- Create your own UI with Starhive's Interface Builder
- Use the native Starhive user interface
- Create your own user interface and connect it with Starhive
You could also use a mix. For example, create your own user interface for your customers to use, but use the default Starhive user interface as an admin panel to do any manual actions in your app, such as deciding if a request will be approved or not.
We will go through each step one by one.
1. Build your own UI with Starhive's Interface Builder
Starhive's interface builder can be used to create different types of interfaces for your app. From forms to dashboards, you can build interfaces for your app that you can share with colleagues. For example, you might want to create a portal where your colleagues can request support from your team.
Interfaces are based on customisable widgets with the number of widgets growing regularly.
One of the biggest use cases for a Starhive interface is creating custom forms so people can create Starhive objects without having to go into the data Spaces. For example, it could be creating a request object for support, or creating an incident object if they spot something is not working.
Learn how to do that in this video:
2. Use the native Starhive UI
If you have users that are comfortable working more in depth with data, you can use the native Starhive user interface. Starhive provides a number of different views like list, timeline, gallery, and board to let you view and update your data in a way that makes sense for each user. In this video we will see an example of different views you can create and how someone might work in Starhive.
3. Create your own user interface and connect it with Starhive
You can create user interfaces for your Starhive app from scratch if you have the know-how or have access to an engineer who does. Your user interface can be connected using the Starhive API.
Alternatively, you can use tools like Wix or WordPress and connect those to Starhive via tools like Zapier for a low-code alternative.
Here is a video of a simple request form created using Wix and Zapier that can be shared with external users to create requests in Starhive.
