Unified Data Management is the process of getting all your important data into one place so it is easier to access, combine with related data, and analyse to make sound business decisions. It’s an audacious goal, but when tackled bit by bit, with a solid UDM platform, it transforms how companies work with their data.
Master data management usually refers to certain domains of business-critical data such as customers, products, or employees. It tends to ignore transactional data or less mission-critical data such as asset data, but this is still useful for employees within a business. UDM encompasses MDM data and all other useful data.
Literally anything you like. We call data ‘objects’ in Starhive. You can think of objects as the individual rows of a traditional database. You decide what to call your objects and what attributes (the columns) it should have. Or you can use our AI assistant to give you a starting point. Objects can be laptops, product purchase records, approval requests, project tasks, contracts, or pianos. It’s completely up to you. Relationships can be built between any object.
If you and your colleagues are sick of managing multiple databases then it might be time for UDM. Or if you find you constantly have to request data from lots of different people and transform it in a spreadsheet into something you can actually use, it’s time to consider unified data management.
Yes you can. We offer a free plan for evaluations and small teams with up to 500 assets. If you need to go beyond that, you can upgrade plan at any time.
