Purchasing & Licensing FAQ
Trials
Can I try Starhive before I purchase a license?
Absolutely! You can try Starhive for 30 days free of charge and then decide which paid plan is best for you.
Consumption-based pricing
What does consumption-based pricing mean?
Consumption-based licensing means your costs are directly tied to how much you use the platform. With Starhive, your license is based on the number of objects you store, manage, or process — not on users or seats. Additional capacity, like automaton runs, AI credits, and storage, is also a cost driver. We provide a quote for your unique needs.
As your needs grow, your license scales with you, giving you the flexibility to pay only for what you actually use.
Unlike seat-based models, Starhive lets you invite unlimited users at no extra cost, empowering broader collaboration without increasing your bill.
How do I add objects?
There are four ways to add objects to Starhive.
- Manually, by clicking the Create button or by using the object form widget.
- Importing objects from CSV files.
- Setting up automatic imports using our import connections.
- Using our rich API to import objects.
How do I remove objects?
Objects can be removed in bulk or one by one.

Upgrading to a higher object tier
Upgrading your subscription
Contact sales@starhive.com if you want to upgrade from Starter to Scale.
How billing works for mid-term upgrades
-
Immediate charge: When you upgrade, you’ll be billed a pro-rated amount that covers the higher object tier for the remainder of your current subscription term.
-
Renewal: On your next annual renewal date, you’ll be charged the full price of the new object tier.
-
Cancellations: Subscriptions can be cancelled to stop future renewals, but they are non-refundable once renewed.
Example (upgrading an annual subscription mid-term)
On 1-Jan-2025, you bought a yearly subscription at $8.388.
On 1-Apr-2025, you upgrade to a higher tier at the annual price of $9.588.
-
Price difference: $1.200/year
-
Time left in current period: 1-Apr-2025 → 1-Jan-2026 = 275 days
-
Period length (annual subscription): 365 days
-
Proration fraction: 275/365 ≈ 0.7534246575
Immediate upgrade charge
= $1,200 × 275/365
≈ $904.11 (Our payment platform Stripe calculates to the second; rounding to cents)
Your renewal date stays the same, and you will be charged $9,588 on 1-Jan-2026 for the following year.
Example (upgrading a monthly subscription mid-term)
On 1-Jan-2025, you bought a monthly subscription at $467/month.
On 21-Jan-2025, you upgrade to a higher tier at the price of $584/month.
-
Price difference: $117/month
-
Time left in current period: 21-Jan-2025 → 31-Jan-2026 = 11 days
-
Period length for January (subscription): 31 days
-
Proration fraction: 11/31 ≈ 0,3548387097
Immediate upgrade charge
= $117 × 11/31
≈ $41.52 (Our payment platform Stripe calculates to the second; rounding to cents)
Your renewal date stays the same, and you will be charged $584 on 1-Feb-2025 for the following month.
